New York, 4 May 1990.The service was held a couple of months after the artist's death from AIDS-related complications. It was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. News reports from the event quoted Mayor Dinkins: "Rarely has a person in Keith's position given so much of himself to other human beings." Actor Dennis Hopper pronounced that "Keith Haring is one of the great artists of the twentieth century." On a more personal level, his sister Kay Haring recalled his positive outlook during his final illness: "It just makes everything that happens now so much better because you never know when you're doing something for the last time." | 8 x 12 1/4 in.
